I recently came across a website that lists significant historical events that took place on any given day.  Here are a few of the things that took place on October 17:

1835 – The first resolution formally creating the Texas Rangers is approved
1931 – Al Capone sentenced to prison
1974 – President Ford explains his pardon of President Nixon to Congress
1989 – Earthquake in San Francisco during the World Series

Every day is a gift from God and it is up to us how we will use it.  While there have been some events on October 17th that bear historical recognition, this October 17th may be the most important in your life.  It could be the day you finally submit your entire life to God.  It could be the day you lead the next Billy Graham to Christ.  It could be the day you make peace with a friend or family member.
