Several weeks ago I was selected purely at random (and certainly through no merit of my own) to receive a free copy of Mark Batterson‘s new book Primal. The exchange was simple — I get the book in advance, read it, and then post a review here, on my blog. So here goes.
If you are looking for a way to start 2010 on the right foot by deepening your relationship with God, then this book is for you. Batterson masterfully weaves his spot on anecdotes with God’s unchanging truth. Any Christian reader will find Primal to be fascinating, enjoyable, and easy to read.
Batterson’s challenge is easy to discern — rediscover basic, or “primal,” Christianity as found in the Great Commandment, which is to love God with all one’s heart, soul, mind, and strength. By doing so, Batterson purports, one will gain an expanded knowledge of and appreciation for the love of God, as well as a reformed perspective of the Christian faith.
I highly recommend Primal as a good read for all Christians.
