Last October I wrote this post about Pastor Appreciation Month. In it I encouraged church members and attendees not just to love their pastors, but to love, encourage, and appreciate their pastors in outward, visible, and tangible ways.
This year at First Baptist Church of Ellenton, the planning team has led our church members and attendees to collect a love offering for the pastor. The purpose of the offering is twofold. First, it is an outward, visible, and tangible way for the church to show their love and support for their pastor. Second, it is specifically to be used to offset my expenses as I attend the annual meeting of the Florida Baptist Convention next month since our church does not include my convention expenses in our budget.
I can’t tell you how much I love and appreciate our church members and attendees. The love offering has been more gracious than I could ever have imagined or asked for. Thank you FBC Ellenton for loving your pastor.
I hope you understand my perspective here. Ultimately, while money is being used as a tool in this situation, this post and this offering are not really about the money. They are simply representing how one church has chosen to love, encourage, and appreciate it pastor during Pastor Appreciation Month.
It is my prayer that all church members and attendees appreciate their pastors and show that appreciation regularly, not just in October.
In what ways do you show appreciation for your pastor? What ides would you pass along to others?
