We live in a world where too often we are eager to stand up and let others know what we are against — instead of what we are for. Well, today, thanks to former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, we have the opportunity to stand up and let others know what we are for.
Without getting too political and analyzing the pros and cons, I want to show my support for Chick-Fil-A, free speech, capitalism, and America in general. Dan Cathy, who now runs the company his father founded, was asked a direct question. And, as he should have done, he provided a direct answer.
I think sometimes we need to remember that standing for something reminds us of who we are and from where we came. Mr Cathy has the right to believe what he believes and so does any one else. And having that belief is neither disrespectful nor hateful.
While it may appear that this debate has blown up into a full-fledged war about religious belief, it really hasn’t. It’s actually much simpler than that. This debate really is about me believing what I believe, you believing what you believe, and the both of us respecting the other’s belief and agreeing to disagree.
Just because I may disagree with you does not mean I hate you. In fact, I still love you even when we disagree. We are all different and we all have our own set of beliefs and values. But that’s not what makes America great. America is great when — and only when — we can both disagree and love each other at the same time.
Therefore, I Support Chick-Fil-A.

One reason people are upset at CAF, which you have overlooked, is that the Cathy family has donated millions of dollars to groups that lobby against gays. Yes, it the Cathy’s right to make these donations, but consumers can express disapproval by not eating at CAF (and by extension, not adding to the Cathy family wealth). In many corners of the world homosexuals are brutalized and killed and that is simply unacceptable, just as the murder of anyone is unacceptable.
Respectfully,
H
H — Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the world. I am honored. As far as your point is concerned, my post was not intended to be an all inclusive expose` of the politcizing or polarizing aspects of CFA (not CAF, btw) or their owner’s stance on homosexuality. I agree, just as the leadership of Chick-Fil-A has the right to hold and express their beliefs, so do consumers have the right to shop or dine wherever they please. Which, coincidentally WAS the point of my post — America is great because we have these rights. Also, the fact that homosexuals are brutalized and killed in other parts of the world is despicable, but so is any kind of violence, including that against Christians in other parts of the world as well.
Regards,
Tom
