We live in a world where too often we are eager to stand up and let others know what we are against — instead of what we are for. Well, today, thanks to former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, we have the opportunity to stand up and let others know what we are for.
Without getting too political and analyzing the pros and cons, I want to show my support for Chick-Fil-A, free speech, capitalism, and America in general. Dan Cathy, who now runs the company his father founded, was asked a direct question. And, as he should have done, he provided a direct answer.
I think sometimes we need to remember that standing for something reminds us of who we are and from where we came. Mr Cathy has the right to believe what he believes and so does any one else. And having that belief is neither disrespectful nor hateful.
While it may appear that this debate has blown up into a full-fledged war about religious belief, it really hasn’t. It’s actually much simpler than that. This debate really is about me believing what I believe, you believing what you believe, and the both of us respecting the other’s belief and agreeing to disagree.
Just because I may disagree with you does not mean I hate you. In fact, I still love you even when we disagree. We are all different and we all have our own set of beliefs and values. But that’s not what makes America great. America is great when — and only when — we can both disagree and love each other at the same time.
Therefore, I Support Chick-Fil-A.
